Day 140 - 142 Horse clinic - Getting to know the patients

Jen's been working for a few days, and is starting to understand the procedures and getting to know the patients.

One horse is there because she got one eye taken out. When I spoke to her, she said it's because she wanted to become a pirate, but Jen said it's because that eye had a glaucoma. I don't know what a glaucoma is, but pirate sounds cooler.

There's another one, her name was Hrubicka (Little Kiss) who had a colic. A colic is something that makes all the intestine pop out when you do a surgery on their belly.
So Jen and Ron (a colleague) had to put a big bandage all around the horse. The horse has a foal who always tries to escape whenever people are busy, so Jen put me in front of the door to guard it.
Stay in, baby horse!
This grey mommy horse is Quilona. She has eye problems so we put drops in her eyes. And her baby had scratches everywhere, but now he's better.
I'm tasting her food... yuck! It's dry grass!
Monty is another baby horse. He was born too early, and his legs were all twisted. Last week he had a cast on, but this week we only put a supportive bandage, because he can stand and walk properly again.

OK Jen! Monty's asleep! Sneak in and take his temperature!
Ah too late... he's drinking again

This is Genta. Also a horse with a colic. But this one didn't make it through, and at the end of the week she needed to be euthanized :(
Poor horsy :(
And finally this is Archie, Jen's favorite horse. He had anemia and funny little red worms in his poo. Apparently the worms were stealing his food (nutrients) from the inside. Clever worms!
It's ok. Hay is lame anyway. Take dog food, it tastes better!
There were a lot of other horses but to me they all look alike. And I guess they are not so bad after all, they are quite friendly. I started liking them (a bit)...
