Days 428-430 Weekend on the countryside

Jen rushed her meat hygiene class to pick me up and jump into a 5 hour long train to Jesenik, and to Dajan's village.
Brno-Olomouc-Jesenik-Vidnava

Are we there yet?
It's close to the Polish border. As in meters close. If we go on a walk from Vidnava, we usually get lost in Poland. And then Dajan's dad gets hypoglycemic and Jen gets stuck trying to get back to civilization. The usual.

But this weekend we can't go far, it's a snow blizzard.

So instead we sat by the fire and drank whisky. We don't have fire nor drink whisky, but we do dog equivalents. Sit on pillow and munch on bone. Pretty close.

Dajan didn't care for the bone until I got here
Now she acts as if it's the most tasty one ever
She's such a baby, I would never do that

On Monday Jen has class so we have to go back to Brno. We missed the bus, so we had to walk to the neighboring village. Jan went hypoglycemic on the way, so we barely made it. Dajan knows when it is going to happen, but she doesn't know how to warn. Jen offered to teach her something but she kind of has to take care of Jan when this is happening. Apparently, letting him seizure while teaching Dajan to bark is not nice.

I don't wanna go home, I wanna stay and play with Dajan

Day 408 Being good

Dajan was here for the weekend but she left this morning.

Me, Jan, Dajan and the power tool they bought
I am always sad when she leaves, I walk slower, I have my ears down and I simply not my reactive/hyperactive self.
At school
"Not reactive/hyperactive" basically eliminates my biggest problem, and without that I am a very good guide dog. In fact I got complimented on by the trainers when Jen came to pick me up in the afternoon.

Jen was very happy to hear that, as I wasn't a very good doggy during my heat.
She likes hearing I am good, but she doesn't want to hear it too much either (because last time she heard that her puppy was being good, it meant the end was approaching and she had to let her dog leave to her new family).

She taught me a few things that she's not necessarily supposed to.
Climbing on trees
Bayas and I performing bench tricks
Anyway, as a reward, I got a nice bone to munch on. The bone is as big as me! :)

Day 406 Shopping for tools

Today we had a nice outting.

We found at the bus stop a sign in braille. How is the blind person supposed to know it's there?
Besides, there is not much space for the hand, so it's not very readable...
It's like that little sign that tells blind people where to sit in the tram...
If they can't see the sign, how do they know which one it is?!
We went to buy tools because Jan is making a new kitchen. A new kitchen means new food. New food means happy dogs. So Dajan and I went to help him buy the necessary tools.

It was a lot more boring than I expected, I almost fell asleep at one point!
Dajan was a lot more polite, seemed concerned and listened to all the discussions made.

All the kitchen talk made us hungry, so we stopped on the way home to get us some food. And by us, I mean Jen and Jan, not actually us-us.
Hmpf we're hungry too!!!

Day 402 Was a bad doggy

We went to the Tesco field as usual. This time with a mission: we burried our roommate's pet hamster who just died.
RIP little Brownie
My heat is over and finished, but my bad mood isn't. We try to avoid other dogs especially males when possible. But Jen is encouraging me to be around them without getting all defensive and aggressive.

So she likes to play stuff like fetch, so I can be around other dogs, yet not interact directly with them and concentrate on another thing. As we were playing just Jen and I, a little black mutt came along and joined the session. And I was really good, and he even was a male!
Me being an angel
Still an angel
Angel as always...
Until I attacked that random dog.
He dared sniff my butt, that awful dog. So I decided to attack him unprovoked.
(we don't have pictures of this, because instead of taking brilliant shots, Jen yelled and seperated us)

I didn't actually hurt the dog. But I looked fierce. Jen asked the owner if he could stay 5 minutes, and she made me obey a series of commands right by the other dog, and petted the other dog, and a whole bunch of stuff just to annoy me.

Anyway Jen was furious, put me on leash and marched back home :(

Day 391 Queen concert

The concert was quite good and I enjoyed it. But I don't understand why the audience always interrupts the orchestra and singers between each sound by making a huge amount of noise with their hands. I always got surprised and annoyed when that happened!

The music was quite loud, so Jen stuffed some tissues in my ears. I didn't like it so much so I took it out. Jen was worried I might be a bit deaf. Weee now I have an excuse not to heel when she tells me to!
Now I just look silly :(
Then Jen went with her friends for a drink and food, while I fell asleep.

Day 386 Marianne valley

Today we went to the frozen lakes of Marianske Udoli. They were frozen enough to walk on them.

Guide dogs are not supposed to go in water. But what about ON water? :)

Jen's petty dare (left) versus my bravery (right)

Walking on water like Jesus (almost)

We didn't only stay down at the lakes, we also climbed around in the forest.

Find the Mety in the picture!

On one of the hills, we found remnants of remparts from a very long time ago.

Remains of a hut (bottom left) inside the settlement

It was very cold. Jen had tea and cookies, so we stopped for a bit. Well she stopped, and threw the ball for me, to finish me off so I could hopefully be tired.

The Jen and the Mety

Tea break for Jen

I did get tired, but I would never admit it to her. I skipped happily all the way home (and fell asleep for 4 hours after).
Well I'll be damned!

Day 379 Dajan's new collar

So today we went for a new collar for Dajan. She went for a purple one cause it's in fashion.

Trying on collars
And bells
Suits Dajan perfectly!

I made fun of her and said she looked like a cow!

Day 378 Dajan's lost collar

Dajan and I went to the fields behind Tesco. I can't go to Luzanky no more, cause male dogs like me too much.
To get there we have to go behind the industrial zone and the abandoned buildings.
Parkour is a sport where you run and jump all over things
We hugged
We ran some more
We played fetch

Jen wanted to go home but we didn't. So Dajan lost her collar, and Jen had to stay walking in the fields to look for it (she didn't find it).
We're thirsty. Bartender, two beers please!

In all we stayed 1 hour and a half playing, then about an hour searching for the collar, then another 20 min of intensive fetching to make Dajan tired, to be sure she would heel perfectly all the way home (since there was no way to attach the leash).
zzzzzzzzzz

Day 382 Helping Jen with cows

Dajan and I are bored. Jen is studying all the time...
All day
All night

So I decided to take things in my own hands and help her.
I had to study a bit too...

I saw a picture of cow tetany (when the cow is poisoned by Clostridium tetani, a bacterium that produces toxins). The cow lays down on the floor, exactly in the position I sleep.
Like this
So I decided to teach Jen the diseases by teaching her how to recognize the symptoms! Here is the chart:

But then I got to a picture of mastitis and udder problems... I don't know how to demonstrate that :(
I don't have that.
Cows are a bit funny, they make milk. If I could make some kind of drink, I would make wine. It's more expensive than milk, so if I sell it I would get more money, ha!
